Install Nano on your phone

Nano is not on the Play Store — we hand you the file directly. That is why your phone asks for permission twice along the way. Both are normal — below you can see exactly which screen to expect.

Two things before you start

Connect to Wi-Fi

After installing, Nano downloads its own voice and brain once — about 1.2 GB. Don’t do this on mobile data. After that Nano works offline.

Free up storage

The app and its voices need about 2 GB of free space. Without it the install stops halfway.

Download the file

Tap the button and Nano-1.0.0.apk starts downloading (152 MB). Don’t close the browser while it downloads.

The link always serves the latest version. If the download is interrupted, your browser resumes where it stopped.

Tap “Download” — this is the first warning

The moment you tap, your browser asks:

File might be harmful Do you want to download Nano-1.0.0.apk anyway?
CancelDownload anyway

Browsers show this for every install file that doesn’t come from a store — based on the extension alone, without inspecting the file. Tap Download anyway.

This is where most people give up. Seeing this screen is normal.

Open the file

When the download finishes, "Open" appears at the bottom of the screen — tap it.

If you missed it: My Files → Downloads → Nano-1.0.0.apk.

Give permission — everyone sees this screen

Your phone will say:

Can’t install unknown apps from this source For your security, your phone isn’t allowed to install unknown apps from this source.

Don’t worry, this is normal. Because Nano isn’t on the Play Store, your phone asks once.

Tap Settings → turn on "Allow from this source" → press back.

Tap "Install anyway"

Next you may see:

Unknown app Play Protect doesn’t recognise this app. Apps from unknown developers can be harmful.
Don’t installMore details

Google shows this for every app that doesn’t come from its store. Tap More details → Install anyway and continue.

Then Install → Open.

First launch — Nano gets ready

On first launch Nano downloads its voice and brain. Five bars fill on screen:

Speaking brain · Ears · Voice · Turkish voice · Understanding

1.2 GB, 5–10 minutes. Don’t lock the screen or leave the app. This happens once — Nano never needs the internet again.

Sign in

Sign in with the email and password you chose when you registered. Your membership is recognised automatically.

If the top right of the screen says "Family", you’re all set.

Allow the microphone

Nano has to hear your child speak. Choose "While using the app".

Your child’s voice never leaves the phone. Speech recognition runs on the device — nothing is uploaded.

If you get stuck

The six most common cases.

It says "App not installed"

You may be out of storage. Nano needs about 2 GB free. Clear some space and try again.

The download link doesn’t work

Try a different browser (Chrome recommended). If it still fails, download again from My account.

It says "Free" instead of "Family"

Connect to the internet and restart the app. If it persists, tap Parent panel → Refresh membership.

The voice download stopped halfway

Restart the app — it resumes where it stopped, it does not start over.

Nano can’t hear me

Use a quiet room and hold the phone about 30 cm away. Check the permission: Settings → Apps → Nano → Permissions → Microphone.

These screens look different on my phone

Xiaomi / Redmi: you may also get an "MIUI optimisation" warning — Install anyway.
Samsung: installing from inside Secure Folder fails; install from the normal home screen.
Huawei: instead of Play Protect you get an "External source scan" — tap Install.
